Text: Modeling
the Dynamics of Life, Frederick Adler, 2nd ed. 2005 Brooks/Cole.
Homework: Homework from the text will be assigned
for each chapter section. Questions
about homework will be addressed during the following class meeting; homework
will then be collected the subsequent class meeting. Homework will be reviewed by a graduate
assistant, who will also make solution information available.
Writing
Labs: Most classes will include an in-class writing
lab to be worked on in groups. These
writing exercises generally are derived from and related to text homework
exercises, or may be short essay questions about a concept or writing a report
on an investigation of a particular problem.
If these are not completed during class (or if a student misses a
class), they will be written up and submitted the following class. These written
exercises may be subject to revision.
An additional longer writing project will
follow the first text chapter.
Exams: There will be two in-class exams during
the semester. The dates for these exams
are tentatively set for Thursday, 24 September and Thursday, 5 November. The final exam has been scheduled for
Wednesday, 16 December, (
No make up exams will be given unless the
absence is documented and qualifies as an emergency.
